Fishy 5 Baited Lure: User Guide & Pro-Tips
The Fishy 5 is a revolutionary Australian-designed hybrid lure that combines the visual action of a soft plastic with the irresistible scent trail of real bait. Its unique "sliding" design and bait cavity make it one of the most versatile tools in any angler’s tackle box.
1. Rigging Instructions
Step 1: Feed your leader line through the "spine hole" located near the center above the eyes. feed the line through the spinal tube until the end appears at the tail of the lure.
Step 2: Tie your preferred hook (circle or J-hook) to the end of the line.
TIP small hooks work the best.
Step 3: Pull the line back so the hook sits near the protruding bait holes at the tail.
Note: The "sliding" design allows the lure to move up the line when a fish strikes, protecting the lure from teeth and head-shakes.
2. Loading the Bait Cavity
The hinged cavity is designed to hold bait securely while letting scent "ooze" out.
Open & Fill: Gently open the hinged cover (it is tight so it doesnt easily come off in action so gently prise it open) and fill the cavity with your bait of choice.
The "Prawn Strategy": For maximum results, place prawn heads or oily fish pieces inside the cavity.
The Hook Speck: For an added advantage, place a tiny "speck" of bait directly on the hook point. This gives the fish a soft, specific target to grab.
3. Fishing Techniques
The Fishy 5 is designed for two primary styles of fishing:
A. The "Sink and Leave" (Static/Drift)
How it works: Use it like a traditional bait rig. The bait cavity acts as a mini-chum pot, releasing a continuous scent trail.
The Benefit: The cage protects your bait from "pickers" (small fish) and crabs, ensuring your hook stays baited for the "big one."
B. The "Pulled Lure" (Active Retrieval)
How it works: Cast and retrieve with a "stop-start" motion. The realistic shape and tail provide visual triggers, while the movement forces scent out of the vents and the nose is disigned to disturb the water for attraction.
The Benefit: It creates a "scent path" in the water that fish follow. Most strikes occur on the "sink" phase when the lure mimics a wounded baitfish. The bait inside the pocket creates a frenzy and the longer it stays there the greater the frenzy and accumulation of fish.
