3. Build and Protect (typically months 4 and 5)
In this stage we concentrate on developing the idea into a product that is designed to a pre-manufacturing prototype stage and has some protection prior to discussions with potential manufacturers, suppliers and distributors and investors.
Typical activities and deliverables of this stage include:
- 2nd stage Pre-production prototyping
- Define the materials and manufacture method
- Produce Manufacturing drawings and prepare production specification
- Appropriate type of patent or protection (e.g. Trademarks) registered
- Provisional patent application prepared and lodged if necessary to gain priority date (by our third party Patent Attorney)
- Market research or consumer research if necessary (by a third party supplier
- Consultation up to 3 hours is usually sufficient to complete this stage
- Recommended next steps
The commencement fee for stage 3 (usually 2 to 4 months) is $1500* + GST each month. if work is required by Inventors HQ. If you wish to pause the project this is possible at the end of any month. The above fees do not include third party expenses which will be quoted for your decision prior to commencing any third party work for example Patent Attorney searches, industrial design, drafting or prototype building services.
NOTE
On completion of this stage it is expected the invention is proven or otherwise to have sufficient potential and intellectual property protection to commence the search for funding (Stage 4) and then the final 2 commercialisation stages (Stages 5 & 6). The funds raise at this stage are deposited into the new company bank account and are used to pay the commercialization expenses and fees (including Inventors HQ) from this point rather than the inventor paying as in previous stages.
On to stage 4
* The fees displayed are minimum fees and Inventors HQ reserves the right to quote project fees on
an individual basis where the project requirements do not fit the usual pattern of product
development. |
